Arduino Alarm Clock
High school students struggle to get up in the morning despite needing to go to school. On top of this students buy an alarm clock that barely makes noise. There should be an alarm system that wakes the students up with no problem.
- Use a photoresistor to detect when the sun rises and sets
- Use a piezo buzzer to make an alarm sound
- Use an LED to display flashing lights
- Use an LCD to display “WAKE UP!!!!”
My solution will use the LCD screen to display “WAKE UP!!!!” along with one color LEDS that will all flash in a loop. There will be a photoresistor to detect when the sun rises and a piezo buzzer will make a sound when detected.

Arduino Alarm Clock
This Arduino alarm clock project showcases how Phillip Yong applies mechanical engineering and embedded systems skills from concept to functional prototype. The build combines circuit design for reliable power and sensing, Arduino coding for precise timekeeping and alarm logic, and integration of an LCD display to present clear, readable status information. A piezo buzzer provides configurable alarm tones, while a set of tactile buttons enables setting hours, minutes, alarm states, and snooze behavior without connecting to a computer. Throughout the project, Phillip iterates on wiring layouts, enclosure concepts, and code structure to improve usability, robustness, and clarity of feedback, treating the clock as a small-scale testbed for the same engineering process he uses in competitive robotics: define requirements, prototype, test, debug, and refine until the system is competition-ready reliable.
